Shout Out To K9 Mako !!

K9 Mako is a 3-year old dark sable German Shepherd from Czecho-slovakia. K9 Mako serves the Manassas City Police Department in Virginia. K9 Mako is certified as a Patrol Utility K9 which includes tracking, building searches, locating articles and evidence, and apprehending criminals. He is also certified as a Narcotics Detection K9, capable of finding the odors of many illegal narcotic substances, including pills and other drugs.

K9 Mako lives with his Handler, Officer Russ McAndrews, and enjoys chasing his toys when he is not howling at fire truck sirens. K9 Mako enjoys watching COPS on television and frolicking in the snow.

K9 Mako is certified through the Virginia Police Canine Association, and has won several awards for his service. K9 Mako recently won the 2010 VPCA Narcotics “Case Of The Year” award for his work with the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) in closing a narcotics case where $35,000 in cash was seized along with a firearm and ballistic vest. K9 Mako also won the 2010 Iron Dog Narcotics Vehicle Search award in the VPCA’s annual Iron Dog competition.
